Brother Paul Avvento, FSC – Brother Paul was born on Long Island, NY and truly discovered the beauty of our faith through his parish’s youth ministry and relationships with the parish priests. After attending a public school from K-12 he was eager to attend a Catholic college. He studied secondary education at Manhattan College which was his first introduction to the Brothers of the Christian Schools (also known as the De La Salle Christian Brothers). Though he worked in urban Catholic education for ten years, he was reticent to truly discern God’s call for him as he was overwhelmed by the gravity of a commitment to priesthood or consecrated life. After recognizing that an open response to God was the only way to authentically live his faith, he received permission to actively discern in a Brothers community and entered that same year. He has taught and served as an administrator in a variety of places and currently serves as Vocations Director. Brother Paul is entering his 9th year in religious life and professed his perpetual vows on September 7, 2024.
