TOPIC:
“A Match Made in Heaven: The New Evangelization & Vocation Promotion Belong Together”

Father Hiers was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies in computer information systems and mathematics at Thomas More College in 2003. He earned an M.S. in management of information technology from the University of Virginia in 2007. From 2003 to 2015, he worked for the U.S. Army, where he led several project offices responsible for the acquisition and implementation of various enterprise IT systems.

While raised Lutheran, he discerned a call to enter the Roman Catholic Church in 2010. Five years later, he joined the Augustinians. Fr. Jeremy completed his seminary studies at Catholic Theological Union in May 2021 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 26, 2021. He then served at the National Shrine of St. Rita of Cascia as the Director of Evangelization and Discipleship, responsible for overseeing several outreach initiatives in addition to sacramental ministry.

Fr. Hiers serves in two roles for the Augustinian Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova. As Vocation Director, he is responsible for promoting vocations and accompanying people as they discern a call to religious life. As Director of the Office of Justice and Peace, Fr. Hiers oversees the strategic coordination of numerous peace and justice ministries.
